The program aims to promote a more equitable society by providing funds to nonprofit organizations that work to address racial disparities in healthcare, food insecurity, and education. Nonprofit organizations supporting underserved populations throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi may apply.

The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood supports promising research and development projects to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through seven years, in the United States. The Foundation’s goal is to provide seed money to implement imaginative proposals that exhibit the greatest chance of improving the lives of young children on a national scale. Support is provided in the following three areas:
  1. Early Childhood Welfare, including projects that seek to perfect child rearing practices and to identify models that can provide creative, caring environments in which all young children thrive;
  2. Early Childhood Education and Play, including efforts to improve the quality of early childhood teaching and learning through the development of innovative curricula and research-based pedagogical standards as well as the design of imaginative play materials and learning environments; and
  3. Parenting Education, including programs that teach parents about developmental psychology, cultural child rearing differences, pedagogy, and issues of health and prenatal care and diet, as well as programs which provide both cognitive and emotional support to parents.

The American Library Association (ALA) seeks nominations that describe how a librarian is improving the lives of people in a school, campus, or community. Up to 10 winners will be selected. Nominees must be librarians with a master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program in library and information studies or a master’s degree with a specialty in school library media from an educational unit accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) is issuing Community Transformation Grants to support projects that increase access to early childhood services and resources. This grant program envisions the creation of early education partnerships composed of community agencies and other stakeholders that will design, tailor, and implement innovative projects that address critical local needs. The Aura Cacia Positive Change Project provides support to organizations committed to helping women and girls facing difficult life situations make transformational improvements in their lives. To receive funding, a program must provide resources and services directly to women and girls who face substantial barriers to sustaining their commitment to positive change; enable disadvantaged women and girls to become more stable and self-sufficient; employ strategies to help women and girls live healthfully and purposefully; reinforce positive self-image, self-respect, and self-confidence in women and girls; or create opportunities for women to drive curriculum or programming that can be applied to program development and mentoring other women.
